English Heritage: Baconsthorpe Castle
The fortified manor house was built in the mid 15th century by John Heydon, a liegeman to the first Duke of Suffolk, and subsequently extended. The curtain walls are still intact, and you can explore the ruined gatehouses and see the northeast tower where wool production was once carried on.
There are limited bus services to the site on certain days only. The nearest rail station is Sheringham, 4.5 miles away.
