Woodcraft by Jim Brown
Sculpted wood pieces made on a farm workshop including stools, mirrors, wardrobes and bookshelves.
A self-employed furniture-maker for a decade and a half, Jim Brown creates sculpted wood pieces at his farm workshop, which is open to the public and by appointment. His range is extensive and distinctive, bearing a sturdy but natural feel whether it’s a stool, a mirror, a wardrobe or a bookshelf. Integral to Brown’s work is that of Gail Duncan, who practices ‘pyrography’ – a form of decorative ‘drawing’ using flame – upon it. Although sales of the pieces are almost exclusively studio-based to order or from stock, Brown occasionally holds exhibitions of his work in the local area.
