The Wightman is a multi purpose venue that hosts exhibitions, concerts and theatre productions. Originally the site of the Fox Inn, Wightman Hall, as it was formerly known, was established by Julia Wightman, a leading Temperance advocate in the 19th century. The hall opened in April 1863, as a Working Men's Hall providing a drink-free alternative to the public house. More than 150 years on the building remains in use and puts on a range of entertaining events.
