The Phoenix Theatre came about through the efforts of the Blyth Arts and Community Association, which drew on Lottery funds and other sources to replace their former venue with a new building. It hosts touring music and theatre shows and also presents productions by amateur companies. The theatre also operates a Young Phoenix programme, offering development, training and theatre education to young people.

The nearest train station is in the neighbouring town of Cramlington; the X13 bus runs every 30 minutes between Cramlington station and Blyth town centre.
