Very disappointed in this hotel. Problems started at check-in when the receptionist could not locate my booking simply because my surname and first name had been transposed in the booking - the hotel owner had to be called to point this out to the receptionist. On the first night at around 9pm somebody used a master key to open the door to my room - as soon as they opened the door they realised that I was in the room - they just shut the door with no apology. I went downstairs to ask what was happening - a different receptionist said that her colleague was showing a customer round -and that she'd seen the incident on cctv. However, her colleague subsequently denied opening the door.
It was so hot in the room and there is no air con or even a fan, therefore I had to keep the window open. I the first night the night club at the corner opposite the hotel played loud music and had noisy customers outside until 3.30am. Then Huddersfield's answer to Big Ben at a nearby church started ringing every 15 min. So I didn't sleep at all on the first night. On the second day I'd been out all day and came back in the evening. I couldn't get access to my floor with my key card. So walked back downstairs to change the key card (no working lift in this hotel) - there was nobody staffing the reception area nor the back office - after ringing the reception bell for about five minutes, I decided to try the hotel phone number - eventually, the receptionist came in through a back door - she had been helping out in the pub next door - so the hotel was completely unattended. She asked "do you want to check in?" (had completely forgotten that I only checked in the day before).
Finally, it seemed like the combination on my suitcase lock had been changed while I was out of the room - I always lock it and set different random numbers - when I went to open the case the combination was set at "777".

I talked to Paul, the owner, and he said he will sort this out for me and send me an email - nothing received so far - after 9 days.
