East Riding Theatre
East Riding Theatre aims to deliver top class performances and to enhance the appreciation of performance arts in the region of the East Riding and beyond. The theatre opened its doors for the first time on Dec 12 2014, followed by a 23-performance, sell-out show of A Christmas Carol, adapted by Vincent Regan and directed by internationally acclaimed director, Mike Friend.
Since then the theatre has continued to develop and grow and has hosted a wide range of arts events including theatre, comedy, music, festivals and more. The theatre is run and kept going by the fantastic volunteers who come and do a wide range of jobs that are essential in the running of an increasingly busy theatre. The theatre is starting to become a real community hub for the town and highlights of this include the theatre opening its doors for the Tour De Yorkshire which took place in May 2015 with locals being able to watch the event on big screens while enjoying the comfort of the newly renovated cafe bar area.
ERT supports the creative industry and high class productions; the bench mark having been set by A Christmas Carol and, while volunteers run the venue, what goes on the stage is paid work.
