Winsford Gardens were formerly part of the grounds of Winsford House, built as a private residence in c.1936 by Stephen George Gee, a wealthy local property developer. It stood on the right of the Garden Road entrance to the public gardens. Prior to this the area was part of the Chesham Park estate. It contains lawns, many old and unusual trees i.e. Fig, Hazelnut, Pear, Yew, Twisted Willow, and the original Rose Garden. Volunteers from Penge Green Gym have added additional seating, signage, a children's playground with hopscotch, raised beds, a pond, a Bog Garden, a Gravel Garden, a Rockery and a wooded pathway.
