Severn Valley Country Park
This 51-hectare park was built on land reclaimed after clearing away the spoil heaps from the coalmines that once dotted the area. The council has created history and nature trails to let you follow the history of the local mining industry, from the opening of Highey Colliery in the 1800s to the end of coal production in 1969. The park offers wildlife adventures and the occasional performance of open-air theatre.
To get to the park by rail, take the steam-powered Severn Valley Railway and request the Country Park Halt. The park has no bus service.
