The Frontier was opened in 1966 as Batley Variety Club, and as one of the most prestigious venues in the North it featured performances from heavy-hitting stars such as Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones. After closing in the late 70s it survived numerous attempts at redevelopment before reopening in the 80s as the Frontier. It's now a nightclub and conference venue, featuring regular DJ nights, live music, stand-up comedy, wrestling, martial arts events and other attractions.

Batley station (Northern Rail) is a few minutes' walk away and Batley Bus Station on St James Street, where most local bus services terminate, is about fifteen minutes away on foot.
