Birthdays is an independent bar and club venue, located in what it cheerfully admits is a 'faceless residential block', which aims to make up with quality food and music what it lacks in heritage-boozer charisma. The food is catered by Lucky Chip, whose burgers are internationally notorious – the John Belushi, at £16.50, consists of a duck, veal and marrow burger topped with foie gras and truffle aïoli, because your heart was made to be broken. The music happens in the basement, and Birthdays has hosted shows by Upset The Rhythm, All Tomorrows Parties, Rockfeedback, Bird On The Wire and Pink Mist, and live sets by Bloc Party, Milk Music, Deafheaven, Chvrches, The Cribs, Frankie & The Heartstrings, Jagwar Ma, Ryan Hemsworth, Trash Talk and Mission of Burma, among others.
The nearest Tube stations are Dalston Kingsland and Dalston Junction (both Overground) and the area is well-served by both day and night buses.
