Margate's Theatre Royal is a Grade II listed building dating back to 1787. As well as welcoming some of the greatest acting ‘stars’ of the Victorian era, the theatre was the site of the first drama school in the country, the School of Acting opened by Sarah Thorne in 1885. The current programme includes drama, dance, music, talks, stand-up comedy and children's shows staged both inside and outwith the theatre.
There are a number of car parks within walking distance of the theatre and free street parking is available on most of the surrounding roads after 7pm. It is approximately a 15 minute walk from Margate Railway Station.
