The first thing you need to know about the Carnegie Theatre is that it has a very jazzy website. The second is that it is a historic place, and is one of Workington's much-loved buildings. Back in the glory days of 1903, his Worship The Mayor, Alderman R E Highton laid the Foundation Stone for the 'Carnegie Free Library & Lecture Hall', and the building officially opened in 1904, following a donation of £7,500 from Mr Andrew Carnegie. Nowadays, it mostly hosts music and dance events, but a selection of classes and courses are also offered at the venue.
