Buckingham Palace's art gallery exhibits art from the Royal Collection. How big is the Royal Collection? When your family starts collecting art in the Tudor period, you've got time to build up a sizeable haul. The gallery was built on the site of a former chapel that was bombed during World War II, and opened in 1962; if the Doric portico looks like it belongs to a different building, that's because it was added during the 1999-2002 refurbishments. Approximately 450 works are on display at any given time. Check the website for current exhibitions.

National Rail station London Victoria and London Underground stations Victoria, Green Park and Hyde Park Corner are all within easy walking distance. Buses 11, 211, C1 and C10 stop on Buckingham Palace Road.
