A really cool place to see a show.

Small little venue (around 100 cap) and the bar area gives off an unexpectedly friendly vibe.

The sound was amazing, the beer selection very good. Also the terrace outside the bar area has a nice number of tables and chairs.

Highly recommended.

17. Ellie Shandur11 Mar 2015, 7:31pm5 stars The Islington Report

The better touring bands that have visited London over the last few years have played The Islington. The bar has an amazing relaxed chic vibe, reminds me of a lower east side music bar. Get a drink in the separated front bar without paying into the show. It's s destination bar so you won't get any creepy locals hanging around.. and the toilets are spotless. We like.

7. Ricky Henderson21 Nov 2013, 8:43pm5 stars The Islington Report

We found this place because it as one of the only places our favorite band was playing in London, so we didn't really have any hopes. What we found though was an awesome venue for live music and a great atmosphere. Loved it. Coming back in newyear

I am so excited to be coming back here. Looking to see Honeyhoney soon as they are one of my new favourite bands and I am so glad I am seeing them at The Islington. It's a great venue and has the London vibe that I miss now that I don't live here. I love coming back. Great

5. Jane Augeri30 Jun 2013, 12:54pm5 stars The Islington Report

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Perfect venue to upgrade your regular drink scene.

Candles light up the room in old fashioned candelabras and beautiful plush maroon curtains divides the back bar area from a private music area (I think I saw a private concert going on the last time I was there). Great beers spirits and cocktails and better than average whiskey collection.

It's romantic and sophisticated, yet casual and accommodating.

I will definitely be back soon and will continue to plan events here as well!!! Thank you for making our birthday night a great celebration!

4. Sue C20 May 2013, 3:15am5 stars The Islington Report

What a find! .. Tucked neatly away from Upper Street you will find one of the most friendliest bars you will ever encounter. Seems like a world away from the hustle and bustle of Islington.

Think a laid back "vibe" bar in Brooklyn.. a neighborhood bar where you can relax and have a craft beer or a coffee. Laze away the afternoon or the evening with your boy or girl. A great place for a first date, massive chesterfield sofas and beautiful attentive staff make the hours pass by lightning fast.

Islington's best kept secret ... for now.

3. sam addison17 Apr 2013, 3:54am5 stars The Islington Report

Such nice individual touches make this place a different night out than a trip to the pub.

The bohemian feel to the place with its velvet curtains, manor house armchairs and friendly staff all frame a fantastic music venue.

The music room is intimate and the acoustics are surprisingly good.

Does Brooklyn beer on draft also! And Goose in bottles.

Go!

4. Reasonably priced drinks.
5. Free coat check.
6. Large venue.
7. Huge dance floor.
9. More than one set of very clean bathrooms.
10. Craft beers on draft!

1. Elli12 Mar 2013, 1:49am5 stars The Islington Report

A hidden gem of sorts; bang in the centre of Angel whilst still managing to slip away from the hustle and bustle of the high street, The Islington manages to strike a perfect balance between homely comfort and chic. Music is the order of the day; a beautiful stage occupies a corner of the room without invading the place - you can get up close to the performers at the candlelit tables, or stand by the bar, or sit further back whilst enjoying the selection of food on offer. A fine range of wines, drafts and ciders are available at competitive prices. The music usually consists of a solo acoustic performer or stripped back band line ups, which means you can hear yourself think and still enjoy some quality entertainment. I've seen the place packed and you can hear a pin drop. The staff are friendly, attentive and willing to go the extra mile, so it ticks all of the boxes on service. All in all a fantastic place if you're looking for something central and a little different and special without having to spend the earth. Highly recommended.
