Built in 1977 by Hillingdon Borough Council with a bequest from Councillor Alfred Beck, the Beck was purpose-built as a community-focused theatre
After being threatened with closure in 1984, it was saved by a local petition and was taken over two years later by Charles Vance. It is now run by HQ Theatres, running shows on behalf of the council.
The theatre survived an attempted IRA bombing in 1991.
