The O2 Academy Bournemouth started out in 1895 as Boscombe Grand Theatre, before becoming in turn a music hall and then, in the 1960s, a music venue, hosting many classic rock bands of the era. In the 80s it acquired the dubious honour of the first karaoke bar in the UK, but since a major refurbishment in 2007 it's been a dedicated clubbing and live venue; from 1997 to 2013 it was the home of Slinky.

The nearest major train stations are Bournemouth to the west and Pokesdown to the east. Free car parking is available at Hawkwood Road from 6pm. There is also a car park in the Sovereign Centre.
