Winter Gardens

Opened in 1911 by the then Mayor of Margate the Winter Gardens has hosted performances by several icons over the last century including Laurel and Hardy, Madame Melba and the Beatles. Used as a receiving station for troops evacuating Dunkirk and as a food rationing centre during the Second World War it was badly damaged by a direct enemy hit in 1941. Repairs cost nearly double the original construction and the Winter Gardens were officially reopened in 1946.

Today the venue hosts a range of live entertainment in its two halls as well as weddings, award ceremonies, conferences and workshops. Margate Winter Gardens is Kent’s largest banqueting venue and offers full banqueting and conference facilities for up to 1400 people.

Margate’s Rail station is a 15–20 minute walk from the venue. There is limited parking for events at Fort Lower Promenade at the rear of the Winter Gardens and numerous car parks within walking distance.
