The Open Air Theatre
To non-Londoners the Open Air Theatre may sound like a relatively recent initiative, but it's been open since 1932, offering top-quality alfresco theatre to playgoers willing to brave the unpredictable weather. It specialises in proven classics, Shakespeare and musicals, all performed with enough theatricality to reach the back rows of the amphitheatre. It also has the longest bar in the West End, and unlike most theatres in the area it allows drinks to be taken into the auditorium.
The nearest Tube stations is Baker Street (Metropolitan / Hammersmith & City / Circle / Jubilee / Bakerloo), with Marylebone and Euston being the nearest surface line stations. The nearest bus stops to the Theatre are served by routes 13, 18, 27, 30, 74, 82, 113, 139, 189, 274 (Baker Street) and 18, 205, 27, 30, 453 and N18 (Marylebone Road).
- Provides: Wheelchair access
- Open since: 1932
