Witton Country Park & Witton Arena
Witton Country Park is 480 acres of beautiful mixed woodland, parkland and farmland to the west of Blackburn.
The estate was once owned by the Feilden family, who built and lived in Witton House (1800–1946) and created the park at the same time. The foundations of the house can be seen, and the Old Stables and courtyard.
The Park has something for everyone, with its wonderful walk ways to wander, including the very popular Beamers Trial, part of Witton Weavers Way, a series of walks that showcase the countryside and its heritage. Billinge Hill Wood with the Wainwright view point on the Yellow hills. Riverside footpaths, to Pleasington local nature reserve. Walks and trails for all abilities. Concessionary bridleways and cycle routes. Guided walks available.
The park boasts play area for all abilities with the Big Cover Wood Adventure area and the Wits play area.
On site sporting facilities include new feature ‘Witton Arena’ (opens April 2014) next to the existing Track and home to Blackburn Harriers & Athletic Club. The community us Arena will feature indoor 60 metre running track, and gym area available.
All weather pitches, Pleasington Playing fields, orienteering course, cycle/mountain bike paths and the Showfield for events used for local and major events.
