For nearly 250 years, the Bristol Old Vic has been at the centre of the Bristol theatre world, staging everything from tried-and-true classics to brand new, experimental productions. None other than Sir Laurence Olivier open the Old Vic's theatre school in 1946, with its professional theatre company frequently touring the UK and overseas. In 2012 the theatre underwent refurbishment to improve airflow and audience sightlines, with continuing redevelopment into 2016.

Jungle Book

Rudyard Kipling's story is adapted to more modern times by Metta Theatre using a mixture of street dance and theatre to tell Mowgli's tale, with choreography by Kendra J Horsburgh. Mowgli is finding her way in the urban jungle with beat-loving bin man Baloo and graffiti artist Bagheera in this alternative take on a classic.
