The relatively small Duchess Theatre was opened in 1929, and the following year set an unbreakable record for the shortest ever West End run, when the The Intimate Revue closed without managing to complete its first performance. Since then it's hosted musicals and West End transfers; notable recent successes include Morecambe, The Pitmen Painters and an acclaimed production of Brecht's Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui. It was purchased by Nimax Theatres in 2005.

The nearest Tube station is Covent Garden (Piccadilly) and bus stops on Aldwych are serviced by routes 6, 9, 13, 87, 243, 341, N9, N13, N44, N87 and N155.

  • Open since: 1929
