Palace Theatre

The mighty Palace dominates Cambridge Circus with whatever it happens to be showing at any given time. It was built by the legendary Richard d'Oyly Carte as a home for English grand opera, but in a rare lapse of judgment, Carte forgot that England at the time had only one grand opera, Arthur Sullivan's Ivanhoe, and it wasn't very good. The Palace was sold at a loss and became a music hall for years. Since the 80s it's been the West End home for hit after hit, from Jesus Christ Superstar and Les Miserables to Spamalot and the 2012 revival of Singin' in the Rain.

Leicester Square (Northern / Piccadilly) is the nearest Tube, and the theatre is served by the 24, 29 and 176 buses.
