The Donmar Warehouse feels like such an integral part of the London theatre scene that it's hard to remember that it only became an independent theatre in 1992; before then it belonged to the RSC. Under successive artistic directors Sam Mendes and Michael Grandage, the former banana-ripening depot has seen some memorable world premieres, including After Miss Julie, The Blue Room and Frost/Nixon, as well as hit revivals of classic plays and musicals.

Book early; it's not a big venue (just 251 seats) and tickets sell quickly. The Donmar contains two bars but no restaurant, referring hungry customers to the nearby Ivy Restaurant around the corner in West Street.

The theatre is located within easy walking distance of Covent Garden and Leicester Square Underground stations, it can also be reached by bus numbers: 176, 24, 29, N20, N279, N29, N41, N5.
