New Alexandra Theatre
Commonly known as the Alex, the New Alexandra Theatre began life in 1901 as the Lyceum Theatre. Since then, the theatre has had very mixed fortunes, with one owner, Lester Collingwood, being killed in a road accident, and the next, Leon Salberg, dying in his office – he is said to still haunt the theatre today.
Now in the hands of the Ambassador Theatre Group, the theatre has a capacity of 1371 and hosts a varied programme of touring drama, West End shows and stand-up comedy.
