Dean Village was built in the 1880's as model housing for local workers. With its colourful and charming buildings it adds to the picturesque atmosphere of the area. You can walk along Dean Path and take photos of the lovely houses framed with the blue sky and the Water of Leith. The small village is extremely popular among tourists and locals: you always find someone running on the path, walking their dog, doing a photoshoot or just wandering around enjoying the refreshing spot of nature in the middle of the busy capital. Just a short walk away from the village is the Dean Gallery and the Gallery of Modern Art. Both impressive classical buildings in their own right, now converted to modern art galleries.
