  • Directed by: Tim Johnson
  • Cast: Rihanna, Jim Parsons, Jennifer Lopez, Steve Martin

Oh (Parsons) is part of an alien race who've colonised Earth by decanting humans to amusement parks in Australia, but he's forced to team up with lost little girl Tip (Rihanna). A grating experience, thanks to a confusing and uninteresting story, wall-to-wall Rihanna songs, twee dialogue and Parsons' annoyingly whiny voice.

  • Directed by: Richard LaGravenese
  • Cast: Anna Kendrick, Jeremy Jordan, Meg Hudson
  • UK release: 17 April 2015

New York-set musical about struggling actress Cathy (Kendrick) and her five-year relationship with novelist Jamie (Jordan). A mostly moving and enjoyable sing-along session, with Kendrick especially good, although Jordan's theatrical tendencies don't transfer too well to the big screen.

Sabine (Winslet), a widowed landscape gardener in 1682 Paris, is commissioned to work on the gardens of Versailles, but her friendship with the head gardener (Schoenaerts) provokes the fury of his scheming wife (McCrory). Crowd-pleasing period drama; what it lacks in historical accuracy it makes up for with fine…

Rob Beckett: Mouth Of The South

Cheeky and upbeat humour from the star of BBC's Live At The Apollo and Mock The Week and Channel 4's 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

Roy Chubby Brown

Blue comedy from man branded 'too rude for television'. Never mind the comedy, that patchwork jacket is hardly fit for public consumption.

  • Directed by: Simon Curtis
  • Cast: Helen Mirren, Andrew Garfield, Ryan Reynolds, Daniel Brühl
  • UK release: 10 April 2015

Maria (Mirren), an Austrian woman who escaped her homeland before WW II, teams up with lawyer Randol (Reynolds) in a fight to retrieve paintings stolen by the Nazis. Mirren and Reynolds have pleasing chemistry but Curtis fails to give this true story a clear direction or emotional impact.

1. Wilf James16 Jan 2013, 2:03am Report

I wish to obtain information about an event that took place some years ago at the Wyllyotts Centre.
There was a concert organised by the Rotary Club with the Mid Herts Jazz Ochestra on Wednesday 20th November. (The year isn't specified on the programme I have.)
I think that it was 1985 but it could have been 1974 or 1991. These three years all have the 20th November as a Wednesday.
My reason for asking is that I have just taken over the job of publicity officer for the Mid Herts Jazz Orchestra and I am try to gather what information I can about the history of the orchestra. It was founded by the jazz musician Eddie Harvey in 1963. The orchestra is still going strong and gives concerts on the second Monday each month (except in August) at the sports pavilion in Sandridge.
If you have a copy of the same programme you will note that the telephone numbers are missing the 1 after the 0.
The main heading on the programme is:
THE EXCITING SOUNDS OF THE BIG BANDS
There is a useful bit of the history of the orchestra in the programme
I would be obliged if you can tell me anything about this concert or any other concerts given by the orchestra in the Wyllyotts Centre.
Thank you for taking the time to read this request.
