The London Coliseum was designed to be London's most majestic music hall, and in a way it still is; Frank Matcham's splendid 1904 building is the largest theatre in London, with a capacity of 2,359 seats, and has been owned by the English Opera Company since 1974. The theatre was thoroughly refurbished between 2000 and 2004, restoring the original design.

Besides ENO productions, the Coliseum has also hosted the Royal Variety Performance and is the home of the English National Ballet when not on tour.
