Wyvern Theatre

Named after a mythical beast, similar to a dragon, which was once thought to be the emblem of the Kings of Wessex, Wyvern Theatre was opened in 1971 by Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness Prince Phillip.

The venue offers a mixed programme of comedy, dance, live music, drama, musical theatre and local amateur productions. The auditorium has 635 seats, each designed to be no further than 70 feet from the stage. Refreshments are available from the Stage Bar in the lower foyer, the Great British Cafe and upstairs the self contained The Place holds up to a hundred diners for parties, celebrations and conferences.

The Wyvern has several car parks within easy walking distance including the Princes Street open air car park (pay and display), the Whalebridge multi-storey, which is further down Islington Street and Regent Circus car park.
