The Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery

Scotland’s oldest public museum, The Hunterian Museum & Art Gallery was founded in 1807 and it is located on the main campus of the University of Glasgow in the western part of the city. The museum houses rich collections relating to science, medicine, archaeology, geology and art. The permanent displays include works by Rembrandt, Rubens and the Scottish Colourists. There is also an outdoor Sculpture Courtyard featuring modern pieces from British artists. Besides the permanent exhibitions the museum has special temporary ones as well celebrating various local and international artists.The Mackintosh House and the Zoology Museum are also part of The Hunterian.
