The Fire Museum of Edinburgh... a quite unknown place but one to discover !

The fire house is located at 76-78 Lauriston Place, Edinburgh EH3 9DE, Scotland (+44 131 228 2401).

The museum contains some unique trucks as well as a lot of equipment and above all, a passionate and enthusiast tour guide. This guide, George Gray, tells you stories you don't read in books, he tells you the real story of the firemen, of their lives and the life in the station. He does that with a great heart and full of passion !

But it is not only a museum ! It's an old fire station where you can feel the stories, feel the life behind the gates.
It's even that old that once horses carried the fire trucks in this station (you can still see the stables and the marks the horses made on the doors when the alarm went off).

I am really happy that I discovered this museum !
And I am lucky as well since a lot of citizens of Edinburgh don't know this unique museum.
I hope it may stay there forever, remembering the firefighters of Edinburgh, Scotland and all over the world for all the great work they do.

My husbands father worked at this fire station so it was a nice treat for me the first time I went,we were given a first class tour of the station and it was nice for my husband to go back to a place that ment so much to him. I am looking foward to going back in the summer as is my son and his girlfriend .A must for everybody just to go back in time for a while to see how the fire service began.
