Relaxed, eclectic pub with plenty going on.

Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2017/18 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

As well and being laid-back and friendly, this Leith walk bar always has a bit of a buzz about it. A great local hang out, there is plenty going on, although that doesn’t mean it’s not a good place to just pop in for a quick drink. The bar is well-stocked with a good selection of beers and gins and the wine selection changes regularly. Plus, they stock Brewgooder, a beer that donates its profits to clean water projects – what’s not to love about that? There is a language café every Monday evening if you want to practice your linguistic skills, an open mic on Wednesdays and the ever-popular singles nights are still going strong. Finally the upstairs section is available to hire free of charge if you want to organise your own do. Décor-wise, it’s a little on the shabby side of shabby-chic, but it’s certainly not without charm, and the flowers in bottles on the tables add a nice touch.

  • High point: Relaxed and welcoming
  • Low point: Needs a lick of paint
  • Notable dish: No food - try a Brewgooder clean water lager
  • Private dining: Up to 50 covers
  • Provides: Children's high chairs, Wheelchair access, Outdoor tables, Free wi-fi
  • Live entertainment: Language cafe every Monday, live music every Thursday, DJs at weekends and singles speed dating every so often
  • Capacity: 90 standing
  • Largest group: 50
  • Open since: 2007
  • Number of wines sold by the glass: 11
  • House wine: £14 per bottle
