Faskally lies on the north shore of Loch Faskally just outside Pitlochry. It is something of a model forest with a wide mix of tree species, some over 200 years old, surrounding picturesque Loch Dunmore. This landscape was created last century in the grounds of Faskally House, which in turn, was used as a Forestry Commission school. Today, a gentle stroll around the woodlands will reveal the fantastic variety that has been achieved and maintained by the use of innovatory management techniques. The brilliant yellows of birch and golden browns and russets provide a dramatic contrast to the conifer backdrop, all reflected in tranquil Loch Dunmore with its much-photographed boathouse and wooden bridge.
