Alhambra Theatre

In the middle of Dunfermline, between Dunfermline Public Park and Pittencrieff Park, the Alhambra Theatre is a restored venue for comedy, music, drama and community events.

Built in 1922, the Alhambra opened with a screening of Over the Hill starring Gladys Hulette, indeed the building is known as 'the old cinema' as it functioned as a cinema from 1924–1965. Despite this, however, its stage was graced by the likes of Andy Stewart, The Alexander Brothers, Richie Valence and O'Mara's Traveling Opera Company.

The re-launch of the Alhambra, thanks to a dedicated public awareness campaign, saw the venue become better known as a theatre and live music venue, pulling in acts like Thriller Live, Frankie Boyle, Morrissey, Jason Manford and Biffy Clyro.
