Green Arts Initiative

Established in 2006, The Common Guild presents contemporary Scottish and international art both in the gallery itself and off-site; among the work featured since 2010 have been memorable shows by Wolfgang Tillmans, Ulla von Brandenburg, Corin Sworn and Phil Collins. The gallery is notable for its rich programme of artist talks and round-table discussions, and in 2010 and 2012 it was responsible for directing the Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art.

The building is a handsome converted Victorian townhouse on the edge of Kelvingrove Park, with exhibitions spread over two floors. The internal staircase makes for limited wheelchair access, but staff are happy to help the less able. Visitors are welcome to use the library, which stocks frieze and ARTFORUM, among other publications.

The nearest Subway stations are Kelvinbridge and St George's Cross on the Great Western Road and Charing Cross is the nearest railway station, about 15 minutes' walk away. The nearest bus stops are on Woodlands Road (via Lynedoch Street; routes 4, 4A, 15) and Sauchiehall Street (via Clifton Street; routes 3, 7, 19, 19A, 747.)
