Hindemith: Let’s Build a Town (Wir Bauen eine Stadt)
With chamber music by Mozart, Strauss and Hindemith

The musicians of McOpera return for another exciting event performing alongside some of our most talented young people. This time our performers - singers, dancers and instrumentalists - join to present Paul Hindemith’s delightful 1930 mini-opera Let’s Build a Town. It was a pioneering work in children’s opera and Hindemith was present at the UK premiere in Glasgow just a few months after the Berlin world premiere. The programme also includes a colourful selection of chamber music, including a new commission for Milngavie Music Club.

Two young star musicians close our season with an exciting programme of music for french horn, that most heroic of instruments, and piano. Ben Goldscheider was a finalist in the 2016 BBC Young Musician and since then he has made his BBC Proms debut and appeared in such prestigious venues as the Berlin Philharmonie. Like Ben, Italian pianist Giuseppe Guarrera is an alumnus of Daniel Barenboim’s Academy in Berlin with a burgeoning career as soloist with leading orchestras around the world.
