This review is taken from the 2013 edition.
A pleasingly traditional bar near the junction of Byres Rd and Partick. Its varied patronage conjures up a relaxed atmosphere amid the warming wooden tones of the interior and original fittings including exposed stone walls and quirky features. There is an excellent selection of malts to sip while enjoying the live music most nights, ranging from open mic to touring folk groups. One special feature is the invitation for customers to acknowledge the Highland clearances in a rather unique manner – all will become clear after sampling a few of the bar’s liquid offerings (clue: it's in the toilets).
- High point: The best pub toilet in Scotland?
- Low point: Not needing the toilet on a visit
