The resting place of the Dukes of Hamilton was built in 1842, and is notable for having the longest echo of anywhere in the world. The interior's cylindrical shape and smooth stone walls mean that it takes 15 seconds for the sound of a slammed door to decay, as tour guides will happily demonstrate.
The Mausoleum is currently closed for repairs. Contact Low Parks Museum at 01698 452382 for further information.
