The Scotch Whisky Experience is one of the most popular five star tourist attractions in Edinburgh offering various tasting and educational tours, masterclasses and a unique culinary experience for those drawn to Scottish food. No matter which tour you choose, your journey starts with a super fun and innovative ‘Barrel Ride’ that generally explains how whisky is made and how a distillery works. Then the museum section goes into more detail which is followed by an amazing screening of the different whisky regions in Scotland: here is where the first tasting takes place. Finally, depending on your tour you taste up to another four whiskies in the stylish McIntyre Gallery. The place also has a magnificent selection of 300 whiskies, an exclusive restaurant and lovely views of central parts of the city.
