Chinese New Year 2020
Chinese New Year is a celebration of the New Year according to the lunar calendar, sharing many similarities with both Christmas and Hogmanay traditions across Scotland! Each year is attributed to an animal from the Chinese Zodiac, so join us in 2020 as we welcome in the Year of the Rat. Find an event near you!
As part of a wider partnership between Burns&Beyond with Johnnie Walker and Edinburgh Chinese New Year, you can enjoy a combined programme of special events throughout the city celebrating both occasions. From Tue 21 Jan 2020 to Sun 9 Feb 2020, residents and visitors to Edinburgh can explore the growing links between Scotland and China through the largest celebration of its kind in the country. This year, both Burns Night and Chinese New Year falls on 25 Jan 2020 – these dates only align every 76 years.
