This year’s Saturday night Poetry Centre Stage promises two outstanding performances from poets known for their evocative reading styles. One of Scotland’s most famous poets, Carol Ann Duffy holds honours ranging from the Royal Poet Laureateship and a CBE to the Forward, TS Eliot and Whitbread poetry prizes. She reads with musical accompaniment from her long-time collaborator, the multi-talented musician, director and composer John A Sampson. TJ Dema, from Botswana, runs Sauti Arts and Performance Management and is a former chair of the Writers Association of Botswana. She has already established an international reputation and is known for her spoken-word work including her multilingual CD anthology Dreaming Is a Gift for Me (2011).
