The Belfast Boys with Adrian Rice
The Belfast Boys, *hailing from Belfast but now living and working in Hickory, North Carolina, are a dynamic traditional Irish music duo. Alan Mearns is an award-winning classical guitarist and Adrian Rice is one of Ulster's pre-eminent poets. Adrian and Alan provide a rare blend of traditional music, and are known for their stunning re-inventions of popular classics, their original material and their high voltage repertoire of jigs and reels. Following the release of their debut album, *Songs For Crying Out Loud, the Boys' reputation for heart-breaking, heart-racing performances has quickly spread across the Carolinas and now makes its way to Bellaghy!
Adrian Rice is originally from County Antrim. His first full collection, The Mason's Tongue, was shortlisted for the Christopher Ewart-Biggs Memorial Literary Prize, and nominated for the Irish Times Prize for Poetry. Adrian now lives with his family in Hickory, North Carolina and *The Strange Estate: New ">(Press 53) has just been released.
