Hugely successful show that celebrates the group's pop hits is moving to the Theatre Royal Haymarket later in 2018
Take That musical The Band is moving to London's West End in 2018. The hit show will be performed at the Theatre Royal Haymarket for 50 performances from Sat 1 Dec 2018. Presale tickets are available from 9am on Sun 18 Mar for 24 hours only, with tickets on general sale at 9am on Mon 19 Mar.
What's it about?
The show pays tribute to the music of Take That, but its narrative takes a different strand entirely. The musical begins in the early 1990s, with a group of five friends watching their favourite boyband in concert. 25 years later, and with Take That back (for good), the friends win a competition to see them perform again at a gig in Prague. The show gives them the chance to meet their heroes and reflect on how far they've come as people and as friends.
Who's in the show?
Five to Five, winners of the BBC talent search series Let It Shine, star in the musical as the eponymous band. AJ Bentley, Nick Carsberg, Curtis T Johns, Sario Soloman and Yazdan Qafouri were the winners of the competition in 2017, which had Amber Riley, Dannii Minogue and (appropriately) Gary Barlow as judges.
The four friends who make the trip to Prague are played by Alison Fitzjohn (Claire), Emily Joyce (Heather), Rachel Lumberg (Rachel) and Jayne McKenna (Zoe). The actors playing younger versions of the friends are Faye Christall, Katy Clayton, Rachelle Diedricks, Sarah Kate Howarth and Lauren Jacobs.
