Get excited folks, he's coming back in August
Missed Kendrick Lamar at the sold out Hydro show and sick of your mates banging on about how great he was? Or maybe you saw him and are thirsty for more. Well, great news, the man of the moment is coming back to Scotland on Wed 29 Aug to headline Glasgow Summer Sessions. Presale tickets available from Thu 15 Feb at 9am, general sale tickets from Fri 16 Feb.
Hot on the heels of his whistle-stop UK tour, and with just one a huge final show at Wembley Arena still to come, the announcement of the Grammy-award winning icon is a real coup for Summer Sessions and a perfect bookend to the festival season.
As our reviewer noted, 'the Hydro played host not just to an artist, but to a master storyteller, an avant-garde performer, and a true visionary.' Lamar's fourth album DAMN. had already taken the Compton singer to another level, but with Black Panther set to blow up at cinemas this week featuring his soundtrack, this is almost certainly an artist at his zenith. The fact that Lamar is in the UK for this zeitgeist moment is all the luckier for us.
Geoff Ellis, CEO of DF Concerts said: 'We are really excited to announce Kendrick Lamar as the first Glasgow Summer Sessions headliner for 2018. Following in the footsteps of Eminem, Biffy Clyro, and Calvin Harris, to name a few acts who have previously played Glasgow Summer Sessions, Kendrick is well and truly at the top of his game after an outstanding show at The SSE Hydro at the weekend and we can't wait to welcome him back to the city in August. Glasgow will be buzzing this summer with TRNSMT and now Glasgow Summer Sessions taking centre stage, truly placing the city as a hub for the biggest artists in the world right now.'
This is going to sell out. Don't be disappointed twice!
Kendrick Lamar will play Glasgow Summer Sessions Wed 29 Aug at Bellahouston Park. Presale tickets available from Thu 15 Feb at 9am, general sale from Fri 16 Feb at 9am.
