Big productions promised by Electric Frog and Pressure
Electric Frog and Pressure's Riverside Festival will return once more in 2018, with its traditional May Bank Holiday weekend slot playing host to some of the biggest international names in dance and electronic music. Among the first wave of acts announced for the event, which once more takes place outside the Riverside Museum on the banks of the River Clyde, include Jackmaster, Richie Hawtin, Skream, Joy Orbison, Dixon, Len Faki, Green Velvet, Fatima Yamaha, Marcus Worgull, Dax J and Slam.
'We're upping the ante on production this year,' says Mark Mackechnie of Electric Frog. 'We've got a new crew coming in, we have new staging, we'll be installing a new sound system which sounds pretty spectacular. Each year we learn lessons about how the site works and we amend the provision each time, so this will be a new, improved version across the board.'
Although stage splits haven't been announced yet, Sunday will be a Jackmaster-curated Mastermix day. 'Jack brings his own unique energy to the event, he works with a lot of interesting people,' says Mackechnie. 'His Mastermix has only happened twice in Scotland, as far as I'm aware, but he's done an American tour with it. It's his brand and his idea of a perfect day of music. It'll be a party day, and a nice finish to the weekend.
'This will also be the first time Dixon has played the Riverside, although he's a regular at the Sub Club, we're looking forward to Fatima Yamaha's outstanding live performance, and Richie Hawtin will come with a big production. There will also be a couple of back-to-backs and we're working to book more big artists, all of which we'll announce in due course.'
Electric Frog and Pressure's Riverside Festival 2018 is at the Riverside Museum, Glasgow, Sat 26 and Sun 27 May.
