Starting out with one chair in his hometown of Perth, barber Grant George now bides in Glasgow and can be found cutting hair with his friendly team on Great Western Road. A traditional barbers with a modern slant, Badland's is a welcome addition to the city's West End, even occasionally playing host to live music events upstairs.

This Tom Waits' referencing spot was opened by co-founders Behn Cross and Bobby Cowan, starting out at Park Road in the West End they've now expanded to a city centre location and can be found at West George Street. The standout, however is the Luxury Full Service, 90 minutes of dedicated grooming that'll set got back £60 but make you feel a million bucks. In house coffee comes courtesy of local roasters Dear Green.

New to Byres Road, Brother Men's Stylist is fronted by Mike, a former member of Yashin and Arches who's been cutting hair for eight years. Brother offers you a beer and a malt whisky, and everything from a full cut to a wash and style.

Nestled on Queen Margaret Drive, away from the hustle and bustle of Byres Road, the staff at Kelvin Hair, established in 2005, do a variety of walk in cuts, priding themselves on friendly customer service. If you're a student, a haircut will set you back just £9, and there's special back-to-school cuts for the kids too.

In their own words, 'not your average barber shop'. Subzero Studios offers top class haircuts, but within their St Enoch Square abode lies both a tattoo and a photography studio. The industrial brutalism of the building's aesthetic sets its apart too.
