Satirical musical from South Park and Avenue Q creators is on stage at the Prince of Wales Theatre until December
The broadway musical, written by South Park's Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Avenue Q co-creator Robert Lopez, runs until Sat 9 Dec.
The award-winning production tells the story of two Mormon missionaries who travel from Salt Lake City to share the teachings of their religion with a remote Ugandan community.
Despite (or perhaps helped by) the controversial subject matter, the musical has proved to be a big hit, and is back on London's West End after debuting in 2013.
As is to be expected from the writers who created the sleepy cartoon Colorado town of South Park, as well as the marionette heavy, war satire Team America: World Police, The Book of Mormon has a mischievous side, poking fun at religion in the modern world.
Teaming up with songwriter Robert Lopez proved a masterstroke. As well as working on Avenue Q, Lopez wrote 'Let it Go' for Disney's Frozen with his wife Kristen Anderson-Lopez. Songs from The Book of Mormon like 'Hello', 'I Am Africa' and 'Tomorrow is a Latter Day' bring laughs to match their melodies.
