Tickets are now on sale for the event, with three huge shows featuring the best in comedy, music, cabaret and dance

Forth on the Fringe returns to the Edinburgh Playhouse this August next week, kicking off the opening weekend of the 2017 festival with three shows of top class entertainment.

Hosted by Forth 1's breakfast show hosts Boogie and Arlene, the opening night starts at 8pm on Fri 4 Aug. The following day there's a matinee at 1.30pm, followed by another 8pm show.

The shows will be graced by some veterans of the Festival, as well as some of the best up and coming acts from the world of comedy, music, cabaret and dance.

The Friday night sees Milton Jones, Jason Byrne, Andrew Maxwell and the incredible Soweto Gospel Choir take the stage. Saturday afternoon brings Kai Humphries, Patrick Monahan, Jess Robinson and The List's Festival Guide cover star Tape Face, while the closing show on Saturday night is topped by Ed Byrne, Reginald D Hunter and Stephen K Amos.
