Plus the chance to win a 5-star Jacobite journey in Scotland
Do you fancy uncovering the fascinating history at some of Scotland's most famous Jacobite sites and best historic places, and learning the real story of Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobites? If so, then this new trail is for you!
Historic Environment Scotland, National Museum of Scotland, the National Trust for Scotland and the Palace of Holyroodhouse have teamed up to create a new trail of 26 of Scotland's most famous Jacobite sites and best historic places.
You can start exploring the trail at any of the sites, but a great place to begin is with a visit to the National Museum of Scotland's major new exhibition that tells the real story of Bonnie Prince Charlie and the rise and fall of the Jacobites (until 12 November). Here you'll find over 300 artefacts from the very best of Scotland's national collections and from across the UK and Europe.
From here, follow the trail to explore a compelling story of loyalty, loss, exile, risings and retribution. Visit sites of dramatic victory and crushing defeat, and learn about the ill-fated campaigns to restore the Catholic Stuart monarchy to the thrones of Scotland, England and Ireland.
The trail offers something for everyone and includes sites all across Scotland.
