Armin Shimerman as Quark

Captain Kirk himself set to beam down to the NEC in 2018

Europe's official Star Trek convention is returning to the Birmingham NEC in October 2018. Destination Star Trek is a celebration of all things connected to the much-loved universe, and will mark the 25th anniversary of Deep Space Nine.

William Shatner (Captain Kirk) will headline the event, with other confirmed guests including Linda Park (Hoshi Sato from Enterprise) and – from Deep Space Nine – Armin Shimerman in full costume and makeup as Quark, Max Grodénchik (Rom) and Aron Eisenberg (Nog).

As well as the usual autographs, photos and panels, fans will be able to take command onboard two Enterprise ships and view original props and costumes.

Having celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, there's plenty of life yet in the beloved series. Later this year, the newest TV series, Discovery, is set to launch on Netflix, while the rebooted film series has enjoyed critical and box office success.

NEC, Birmingham, 19–21 Oct.
