Stephen McLaren: 'No More Say Yes' – video premiere

Get an exclusive look at McLaren's new pro-Scottish independence video

Stephen McLaren has released his latest single, 'No More Say Yes', a compelling pro-indie anthem that's as politically-relevant today as back in 2014. The video accompanying the track is poignant black-and-white; McLaren playing piano in a flat whose windows are bedecked with 'Yes' posters, interspersed with footage from independence rallies.

'No More Say Yes' is released ahead of McLaren's new album, We Used to go Raving, and is emblematic of the album as a whole. McLaren oversees the personal, the political, and everything in between, melding electro rock with dreamy new wave to evoke the harsh reality of living in the world today and the post-millennium human condition.

'I am in passionate favour of Scottish independence,' says McLaren, 'and so wanted to write a driving, interesting pop song about and in support of it; hopefully some people will form the opinion that I've achieved that, and if it helps the independence movement in any way then that would be a wonderful bonus.'
